Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When closing the lid of my laptop Steam shuts down randomly. It leaves behind no error messages on the terminal either. It should not shut down automatically or at the very least it should leave a message. I've had games open during lid close (like TIS-100) and it crashes as well as soon as I play a sequence (I'm assuming it contacts steam to do a cloud save and it fails.
Here's a video demonstration of the shutdown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfXX7o2-CbA
Here is the terminal output from my tests: https://gist.github.com/Managor/eb497304f63cc72d7066df54660117a6

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open Steam
  2. Put laptop to sleep by closing the lid
  3. Bring your laptop back from sleep

Haven't had this happen in a long time. I think it's worth closing. I think the new steam library beta warrants a good cleanup with all the old reports anyway.
