Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date):
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu 18.04
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

For the first time in my life of 20+ years of linux gaming I got a steam hardware survey \0/ on my GPD WIN 2. And the first thing I notice is that it says I have no touch screen.
This is a goodix touch screen, which will be presented as a touch screen if you use chrome for instance: you have to use touch events instead of mouse click events, unlike old touch screens that use mouse click events.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Buy a GPD WIN2 (I assume anything with a real touchscreen)
  2. wait several years for getting a hardware survey (JK :-) )
  3. See it doesn't report a touch screen

Just reporting it.
(Touchscreen works fine on my system. Would be nice if multi touch touchscreen would be supported in the steam input/controller manager. Especially with the Smach Z finally getting there...).

3.5 years later, And I just ran into this exact issue on my laptop.

MS surface pro 3 running Linux mint, and the touchscreen is not detected by the survey.

Nothing extracted yet.
