Hello @MrApplejuice, are you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?
Hi there! I completely forgot about this issue by now, so I think it is solved. Still playing games on Linux, and I do not experience the problem anymore. Thanks for checking in!
If you need to, please feel free to re-open the issue.
Nothing extracted yet.
I am running Steam on Linux - see attachment for details. lsb_release and uname are:
I was investigating the problem a bit, and the issues seems to have to do with SteamVR: Every 30 seconds, the client seems to perform a scan for the presence of an HTC Vive usb device - which I do not own - using lsusb . The top-process tree while such a scan happens looks like this:
(as copied from 'top' - lag occurs while the
sh -c STEAM_RUNTIME=0 LD_LIBRARY_PATH= lsusb -d 28de:2000 > /dev/nullprocesses run)This scan takes 1-2 seconds and while it is running it locks up the entire Steam client and games that run at the time. This makes most realtime games completely unplayable on my machine.
I would appreciate a fix for this issue!
