the only game I can seem to get to run is Unreal Tournament 2004 that uses Direct3d,
unsure why all my other ones are not running
I can not seem to get any form of log to show me what the issue is
please any idea's what commands I can run so they don't silently crash?
I am also noticing a dead symlink .steampath that keeps being auto-generated .steam/sdk32/steam
possibly related to btrfs ,
I loaded up a old disk that is ext4 and tomb raider that was on it ran fine
yet file integrity of the other install come back clean !
ok it seems steam no longer likes running things from mergerfs
my fstab looks something like this

ok I might have to open another report it does indeed seem to be mergerfs mounts no longer working
did not seem to matter if I used btrfs or ext4 etc as soon as I tried reading from a mergerfs mount issues occurred
how ever mmap does not work when direct_io is enabled so this might be the actual reason everything not working
some of the native linux games ( all the feral ) are running now without direct io enabled and a few proton games
edit yep seems to be mergerfs related if I copy data over to a raided btrfs ssd system that i boot from and disable my mergerfs folder they run

yes still not working via mergerfs file system I moved steam back to a ZFS file system
Just wanted to say that I'm still experiencing issues with this. 2-3 weeks ago I was able to play most games with few issues on mergerfs, but as of around Monday 12-13-2021, all games on mergerfs fail to launch.
Nothing extracted yet.

then I started getting wrong ELF class errors and 32bit errors ,
tried reinstalling steam same issue ,
