Workaround: https://github.com/Holston5/Native2Proton
It seems a bit counter-productive to mark an issue/feature request as "duplicate" when it's been there for a while, and likely wouldn't take much work to implement. This seems to be the case with a lot of other issues on here, with (@kisak-valve, at least) just trying to keep all of these (useful!) feature requests to a point where there's just one of each, like they're collecting em as trophies.
If you aren't going to add these features, Valve, at least give us the tools to add them ourselves.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Allow to have the SteamPlay version installed alongside with the native version:
Currently I would need to re-download the entire game, every time I switch the two versions.
For example, arma 3 would need this feature, as there is a linux port available that works, but that port has not the same version as windows, but better performance than proton.
This feature would make re-visiting the game after new proton versions easier.
Maybe we could add a dropdown menu to the "play" button to let the user choose which version to play and the possibility to have both versions installed at the same time.
