Hello @BloodyIron, I expect that no prompts is the intended behavior and the same as steam steam://run/<AppID>. Marking as a Feature Request for it to be changed.
Update February 2026: Still not fixed and now causing hardware-level stability issues
I am reporting that this bug is still present in the latest Steam Client. While it was a "minor annoyance" in 2019, it has now become a critical stability issue for modern Linux gaming (specifically NVIDIA + Wayland + Proton).
The Problem: The Systray Context Menu ignores ALL user-defined launch option and bypasses the "Select Launch Option" dialog.
Why this is critical now (The Hardware Failure): In games like 7 Days to Die, I use the "Launch game without EAC" launch option to bypass Easy Anti-Cheat, which is necessary for stability on Linux.

Example game: ASTRONEER
When I hit "Play" in my library, I get a STEAM-styled pop-up asking if I want to launch the game fullscreen, or windowed.
When I click on the systray icon (in this case Gnome + Ubuntu), and go to "ASTRONEER" in the pull-down menu, it doesn't ask me, and just picks what I assume to be the first option.
This is kinda annoying and I'd rather it ask me the options, instead of having to go to my library to get that, since the first option isn't exactly my general preference.
