Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When the chat window is undocked from the friends list window, they can resize in width freely, with minimum widths of 400px and 300px for the chat and friends list respectively.

When docked, the minimum width is 1280px. This seems like an unnecessarily large minimum width, with 700 pixels (minimum widths of the two separate components combined) sounding like a better alternative.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start steam, open up the friends list & chat window
  2. Try manually resizing the windows, or use xprop for accurate measurements (and direct readout of minimum window size)
  3. dock & repeat measurements

In the meantime, I've switched to KDE plasma DE but still experience this issue.

Is there an ETA on when this will be fixed? Its a very annoying bug that (hopefully) is a simple fix

@kisak-valve Is there an update for this? Meanwhile I've changed out some displays, and have now realised the underlying issue if probably that when docking the chat window, it (re)sets the current height & width as a new minimum:

Proof: when undocked, you can freely resize the friends list or chat window height (to a certinain minimum). Now, when you dock the chat window, the friend/chat window with the largest height becomes the new minimum height! This lasts until you undock.

Not sure when this was fixed, but It seems resolved as of build 04-06-2020 05:51:01
