  • Steam client version (June 28 2019 Steam API:v018 ):
  • Distribution : Ubuntu 19.04
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Steam controller not working with non steam games that have a launcher. Example: Minecraft java edition. I can add it as a non steam game and launch it, but it losses controller focus, and it just uses the desktop controller configuration. I can not configure the button layout.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Add non steam game that has a launcher
  2. Launch it with steam bigpicture
  3. It uses the desktop controller configuration insted for the steam controller or other gamepads

Edit: with minecraft java edition from a snap package does not work, with the official deb package it does.

well it I think the minecraft issue was that I was using a snap package, installed the official deb package of minecraft from the oficial website and it works. Now with and unoficial client like the epic game launcher with lutris it behaves the same way as the snap of minecraft, cant configure the game becuase the launcher steals the focus. Is there a way to make the snap games work with the steam controller?
