Hello @bearcomesout, this reads like a thermal management issue. Are you able to ssh into the laptop and keep an eye on temperatures and dmesg?
I am a complete newbie. Would you be able to tell me how to do that? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello there,
Do you have a second machine or a phone with SSH client app? See https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-enable-ssh-on-ubuntu-18-04/ and https://itsfoss.com/monitor-cpu-gpu-temp-linux/.
Cheers
