Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1567041311
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Linux Mint 19.2
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [Yes/No] Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Any trade offer links will be opened in my main browser instead of the Steam client. This happens in Stable and Beta client as well.

Log says this for each link I click on:

ExecuteSteamURL: "steam://openexternalforpid/5130/https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/************/"

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Click on a Link in the Steam chat.

I can partly confirm this odd behavior but it is a bit complex:

create a new trade from chat window --> browser
open a trade a got from someone in the chat window --> browser

new trade offer from profile page --> client
new trade offer via trade link pasted in chat (the one with token) --> client
click on an old trade offer sent to someone in chat window --> client

It's the same experience for me. If it's a plain link, it opens in the client. But if it's the embedded trade offer, it opens in the browser.

I am having this same behaviour on the Windows client, this page is one of the most recent results when I searched for this problem I am having.
