Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): Dec 6 2019
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Linux Mint 19.2
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Game in question is this.

Basically installing this game via Proton triggers some SteamWorks redist download , which is visible on downloads section. After that on next client reboot , Steam greets you with asking " login or create account " with your client language choice is changed. Defaulted to english.

Unless you delete mentioned game from your system ( which this action also triggers a SteamWorks download ) , Steam client will repeat same behaviour over and over again.

After deleting the game , everything goes back to normal. Client remembers your info ( keeps your log in info ) and language settings.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Downloading mentioned game demo via Proton
  2. Closing Steam client and opening it again
  3. Deleting the game demo to see normal client behaviour at work again
