After installing steam package and running steam I got this screen:

steam01

Obviously there must be decimal marks instead "Â"

Can you provide more information? Distro and desktop environment?

I cannot replicate this on Mint 13 with Cinnamon.

Gentoo amd64 and KDE 4.8.5
steam installed from gamerlay overlay

I had same bug on Debian Wheezy 64-bit. After I switched Steam interface language from English to Russian this bug disappeared.

Winterheart, what language are you using?

Wwinterheart 2012-12-25 github

Russian, ru_RU.UTF-8

I can't reproduce this when switching to the Russian locale. I get a space for the separator, as expected.

If you do 'locale LC_NUMERIC' what does it show? Even better

locale LC_NUMERIC > j
hexdump -C j

Then I can see the actual bytes of the separator characters.

My first reaction was that this was a result of the gamerlay overlay, but @chelobaka kinda put an end to that thought.

As this doesn't reproduce for us we'll need more information to proceed here.

Nothing extracted yet.
