Steam client version (build number or date): 1/23/2020
Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch Linux
Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
Have you checked for system updates?: Yes
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Quite awhile ago, there was an update for the Steam Controller that added a tiny outer deadzone to the right trackpad, only near the ABXY buttons, that helped prevent unwanted trackpad touches when using the ABXY face buttons. The deadzone appears to be working as intended when at the desktop, but upon entering any game, it doesn't work anymore.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Turn on Steam Controller
When at the desktop and using the Desktop Configuration. The deadzone works as intended.
When you start a game and use the Gamepad template (and probably other templates as well), there is no more deadzone. The slightest touch of the right trackpad near the ABXY buttons ends up registering.
