Steam Client Verison: Opted into Beta, and downloaded today (26/01/2020)
Ubuntu 18.04

My game "Something Ate My Alien" that is currently unreleased and in Beta test doesn't get an icon when you create a desktop shortcut.

I've read the other post about there being bugs around it, and I've opted into the latest Beta, and also removed the old file in Steam/steam/games/ and did an integrity check.

This made it download my zip file with the icons/pngs in.

However, if I recreate the shortcut, it still remains the standard blank icon.

Strangely, even though I've uploaded them as 32bit from windows, looking at them in Linux with 'file', they are being reported as 8bit. Is that a problem?

Also, are there any naming standard for the png files? As it didn't say anything about that in Steamworks when I was uploading.

See attached screenshot for details.

FYI, as I couldn't find a MacOS section for the client, I thought I would let you know here, that the same problem with the icons not showing seems to be a problem on the MacOS version also.

Those are ICNS file format though, but it looks like a similar problem.
Strangely, it shows ok in the info window, but not on the desktop.

Not sure if it's that simple, but on Ubuntu have you tried right-clicking the shortcut and making it executable? For me most (all?) shortcuts show up that way, but that fixes it for me.

It was already 'execute', so nope, it's not that. Thanks.

Nothing extracted yet.
