Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1581460722
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Manjaro KDE
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [No]
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes]
  • Full System Information: steam_system_information.txt (edit: when reading it, I see my mother board audio chipset (Starship/Matisse HD Audio Controller the onboard chipset of my B450M Gigabyte motherboard), which is the one I use, is not listed in the system information.. maybe a lead to the issue? also weird, the Nvidia sound is disabled and is the one listed)

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Every time I receive a chat message and that a notification sound plays, it is crackling. I found this issue reported very long time ago on Steam forums here, but the issue still exists https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/3/2534848209919698347/
Also found a very old closed issue https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/3183 but I will open a new one anyway.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Receive a chat message
  2. Notification sound plays with crackling
