TF2 download won't start

I just installed the steam for linux client on lubuntu. It went off without a hitch. I then decided to install TF2. It says it's downloading the files, but it's been at 0% for over an hour now.

I notice the network information section is blank, yet I am connected to the internet, submitting this bug from the linux machine running steam. I would imagine that is where the issue is, but have no idea where to go from there.

after restarting steam client, the game is now downloading. so I guess this can be closed.
