Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): latest stable (2020-06-22)
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu (Arch as well)
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Having two GPUs installed in your system you can't select which GPU is used for in-home streaming and which is used for rendering the game. Your default GPU will be used for rendering.

This is specifially good for Notebooks with two graphics as well as Desktops with AMD GPU & Intel iGP because VAAPI encoding with AMD is still not possible.

Feature to implement

It should be possible to select your secondary graphics (e.g. onboard Intel) to encode the in-home stream while still using your dedicaded GPU to render the game.

As a quick'n'n diry solution a Environment Variable to start Steam with should be enough. In the long run a selection in the Steam Client should be possible.
