Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): Latest, the "about" section says Jul 16 2020
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): OpenSUSE (KDE), Ubuntu (KDE)
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

The option "Allow desktop configuration in launcher" seems to do nothing. If a window that shows game/3d content is not in focus, the desktop configuration remains active even after disabling this option. On Windows 10 it works as expected. Tested on non-steam "game" PCSX2, since it's the only thing that uses a desktop menu in my game library. Seems I'm not the only one: https://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/1/2333276539612126794/

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Disable the option
  2. Desktop config is still active.

This is also an issue for RPCS3. Touch controls for remote play always try to load the desktop profile and have no way to get into controller mode.
OS: Ubuntu 20.04 (KDE)
Steam: Beta client

This continues to exist in newer versions

This issue still exists. (Latest client beta)
I'm trying to launch the yuzu emulator through Steam, but it's stuck in the desktop configuration, and I don't see a way around it apart from disabling Steam Input completely, which I don't want.

Sadly, this makes it impossible for me to use yuzu through Steam Link.

Would be cool if someone could fix this.

Yeah, considering that Valve is pushing both Linux and Steam input with the Steam Deck, they really should at least try fixing something that impacts Steam input within Linux.

Is there a fix for this? I've been dealing with this for a while now. Can't get any controller input for RPCS3 or Dolphin while using Steam Link.

EDIT: I'm running the Debian package on Pop!_OS 22.04, although the problem persists with the Flatpak version as well.

Nothing extracted yet.
