And I also don't want to always change this settings every time a new proton version got released for every whitelisted game.
Hello @MartinX3, this is a feature request for the Steam client, not Proton itself, so I've transferred this issue to the steam-for-linux issue tracker.

Description
I would like to have an option forcing already whitelisted games to use the newest proton version.
It seems for me that usually games which got whitelisted will stay on the in the past used proton version for ever and I need to force them individually to use a newer one to be able to remove older proton versions.
But then with every new proton release I need to modify every game setting again to use the newer one.
As example Stronghold HD wants Proton 3.16 by default but runs great on 5.13 and the Soldier runtime on my Arch Linux rolling release distribution.

It's an feature for the proton integration in steam.

Bugs may occur, but because it should be opt-in, the user should be aware what he did and that he need to report bugs.
