  2. right click on your friend

Hello @bladefox1337, I don't understand how this is an issue. Please clarify exactly what you think is misbehaving and what you expected the Steam client / Steam overlay should have done.

@kisak-valve, oh, this problem only when "Dock chats to the friends list" is enabled.

Okay, so the issue is that the chat window temporarily gets an upwards offset when right clicking on an in-game friend and the context menu has options after Manage that can go past the bottom of the window. The black at the bottom of the chat window is not a user edit. Can not re-produce with online friends that are not in-game.
