Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): Feb 12 2021 1613176728
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu 20.04
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [Yes/No] Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large code pastes as a Github Gist

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Scan Music Library (Local, NFS, or CIFS mounted share)
  2. Status sits at "Building the Music Library" for each folder type for hours at a time with no music library being added,
  3. Does not matter if a single folder or 10,000's folders are present, the music library doesn't build regardless. Have tried removing FLAC files and scanning with mp3's only, but still receiving the same result.

duplicate of https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/7372 I think

I haven't noticed any spikes in CPU usage while scanning the music library.

After the latest Beta client update, the scan completes but still reads "-1 Albums/ -1 Artists" instead of just hanging forever.
