I see, even if you uncheck steam compatibility and close the properties window, the setting and the compatibility tool still remains checked and selected. Are you on Linux or Windows?

Closing the window via the window close button causes the compatibility window to go back to the setting before changing it. You can get steam runtime if you change it to the latest one, but unchecking the compatibility entirely seems to be bugged.

@github-MaxCE *clarification, it only goes back to the previous setting if the compatibility mode is unchecked before closing the window. However, it seems that if one of the compatibility tools doesn't cause a download (like Steam Linux Runtime) (meaning that switching to it doesn't cause steam to start the download progress) while a previous selected tool (such as proton) (without closing window) does download and then you then deselect the compatibility feature then close the window, a subsequent opening of the properties window will show the compatibility box unchecked as desired. Although, it seems that after the that previous selected tool (proton) finishes downloading opening the properties again will show that previous selected tool (proton) selected.

This will be fixed in next beta update (> Apr 20).
