I wasn´t able to play TF 2 before because I was stuck in legacy Catalyst 12.6, now that they release 13.1 legacy, I could play it and I noticed it takes some time to load the game, not only to the main menu but also to start every match (I remember the Windows version takes some time too, but the Linux one is taking more).
Here are my specs:
I have opened a thread on devgurus:
Here's short'n'ugly of what they said on devgurus:
Nvidia users have the same issue. It must be TF2.
We are working on the loading times, but this is a different issue I think:
Loaded program cache file "glshaders.cfg", total keyvalues: 1244, total successfully linked: 1244
Precache: Took 85548 ms, Vertex 1070, Pixel 2875
Has anyone seen messages like that that on NVidia hardware?
A large precache time? Only when moving between driver versions, recently moved to 313.xx from 310.xx and loading was >60s when normally its 12s or something. Next restart its back to normal.
I have played Team Fortress 2 again and the loading time were the same as when I played it in Windows, it´s normal for me now. I will play more times to see if this is not a "random thing" and post the confirmation here.
Issue transferred to ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games#82.

After I've installed 13.1 drivers loading time of main menu increased significantly.
Ubuntu 12.04 , Radeon 7950, intel 3770k
found this in console output:
12.10 drivers were faster
