Steam thinks /home is empty

Steam does not seem to believe that my home directory exists. It's just Steam, and it's been doing this for months.

Update: I can access folders within /home if I manually type them, and they display properly, so it seems to just be /home itself that has the issue.

Is there a lot of IO by chance? Wonder if the client is trying to build the tree.

No elevated IO activity, also on an NVME SSD.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Menu-> games -> add 3rd party game -> Browse -> attempt to enter /home/

After i entered in steam file browser to /home i dont see home folders for any user it is just empty.
