TF2 dev console won't copy to clipboard

I just tried to copy an error that was logged in the TF2 developer console for another bug I reported. I highlighted the line, right-clicked, and hit Copy, but it didn't copy the text to the clipboard. My desktop manager is KDE, if that makes a difference.

No.

I can right-click and hit paste and it works, but the middle mouse button does nothing.

Sorry - I meant what happens when you do the following (I'm trying to narrow down what's going wrong - I think this is a bug in SDL).

Select text in tf2 console.
Right click, choose copy.
Go to gedit (or something like that).
Hit middle mouse button.

Does that paste the copied text into gedit?

If my KDE clipboard is empty, then yes, it pastes what I copied from the TF2 console. If I have something in my KDE clipboard, it pastes what's in there instead.

Is the same thing happening for with in-game chat? Because I discovered the other day that I can paste text into the chat window but not copy text from it, both with Ctrl+C and the context menu. Wasn't sure if I should submit it as a separate issue or if it's related to this one.
