After connecting a HDMI TV for Big Picture mode, besides my VGA Monitor, on my notebook, Ubuntu freezes after log off, and I have to shutdown my computer.

Error:
[drm:drm_crtc_helper_set_config] ERROR failed to set mode on [CRTC:7]

Dell Inspiron 14R
Hybrid VGA:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 630M](rev a1)

This is not a steam client bug, but Big Picture mode asks for a big TV, and it makes my system unusable.

You should raise this with your video driver vendor (Intel and NVIDIA).

I though valve was collaborating with the open source video drivers, with intel nvidia and the community.
I see mentions of this error on google dating 2010, clearly I can't count on their proactivity.
Any help?

I can see a probable location for this error on the nouveau (open source nvidia) driver:

In my opinion if I have multiple monitors, and one of them fail to setup (3 at the same time), it should be ignored, and not to cause a system failure, making me to do a forced shutdown.

We are collaborating, but they still run their own support. They may or may not see an issue here, thus if you contact them directly you'll be making a direct connection.
