I get a message box saying "Error reading directory: assets/scripts"

Found a workaround myself. I had moved my Steam folder to a separate partition with xfs, with a link from ~/.local/share/Steam, moving it back to my ext4 home partition fixed it. Not sure if the problem was the file system of the separate partition.
