With the upcoming Steam Deck, some of us want an integrated user experience. What does this mean? This means we don’t want to have to “Play” another game launcher which likely won’t give us the same experience as Steam because of looser integration with the OS and the massive jump to yet another game launcher. Most launchers these days integrate a feature that allows direct launching of a game with an ID.
Benefits:
Tighter integration with the community pages, friends features, etc
Ties into point 1; Automatic background, app icons, and banner without explicitly gathering our own
Not rebuying a game if you already own it on another game launcher (Like Epic Games for example)
How would this work?
A simple input field that points to the game on Steam Store would be the most user friendly. Otherwise a simple input field for steamId would work for most users and/or tools.
