HL1 beta is forcing vertical sync on for me despite having the option disabled in nvidia-settings.

Distro: Gentoo 64-bit
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 295
driver version: 313.18

fps_max seems to be set to 73 by default. That might be what makes it seem like vsync

No, I've run cl_showfps 1 to see that it never goes above 60, and I've also tried raising fps_max to 99.

Also, I notice that little bit of mouse lag that is typically associated with vsync being on. If it were just caping the fps to 60 I shouldn't get that.

Same problem here. I have fps_max set to 101 and I get only 85 fps, although my fps are constantly going from 85 to 101 all the time.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600GT
Driver: 313.09 (with VSync disabled in nvidia-settings)

I am also running in to this problem. I have turned off "Sync to VBlank", but it's still capped at 60 fps with fps_max at 101.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Driver: 310.19

Typing gl_vsync 0 in the console window fixes this.

Confirming that gl_vsync 0 solved the problem. Thank you @spacelike.

vsync is enabled by default, set gl_vsync 0 to disable vsync (as others have commented on).

Nothing extracted yet.
