Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): https://ibb.co/YNvz4p6
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Artix Linux
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Using awesome as my window manager the client will crash either immediately or after a short time after startup (could barely create the screenshot for the version).

Update: It even crashes on full width when scrolling though my games list.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Run steam from command line
  2. Update... nope width doesn't matter.
  3. Wait a few seconds (sometimes even on startup) or move around mouse
  4. Segfault..

For reference, the attached minidump is a SIGSEGV coming from libvstdlib_s.so.

So some more info:

Today I deleted .user/local/Steam and .steam folders and did a new install of Steam altogether. I forgot that my Steam files are in /opt. When I created a symlink to steam in opt folder this issue went away. Not sure why. Maybe because I've got my old/working files there?

So I don't think it's fixed but rather an issue with new installs.

Nothing extracted yet.
