Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

During the remote play we should have no vsync. Or it should be at the client display refresh rate.
But recently, I'm experiencing vsync locking at 30 fps for brief periods of time(0.5s ~ 1.0s) during the gameplay.

Additional info

This issue isn't happening when playing without the remote play.
This issue happens in both, windows and Linux steam link apps.
This issue affects both, native and proton games.
For some reason when downscale is involved(1920x1080 -> 1366:768), it doesn't happens.
Disabling hardware encode/decode doesn't improve the situation.

Client info:

  • Linux: flatpak version 1.1.89.255
  • Windows: version 1.1.87.210
  • Device: Mesa Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2) (0x5916)

Host info:

  • Device: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (BONAIRE, DRM 3.42.0, 5.15.11-xanmod1, LLVM 11.0.1) (0x6658)

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Connect steam link to the host.
  2. Start the game
  3. See the frame time graph locking at 33.33ms with a tool like mangohud
