Yeah there is a workaround in the thread ^^^^
Did you forget to push the linux update? I haven't had any new update yesterday.
Tried to verify the game cache and still no update.
I had the update on Windows, but still not on Linux.
Now the problem is the opposite, my keyboard is always set to QWERTY while I have an AZERTY keyboard, see here:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/1023
And if I use any of the number keys, my game crash, every time. Same for the console key.

EDIT: Managed to get the update under Linux after verifying the game cache again. Console and number keys work, but the keyboard is QWERTY as well.
Still crashes under Windows though.
Still crashing. Can this be reopened?
This issue affects Windows and Linux with the new SteamPipe beta.
In the non beta CS 1.6 (Windows only), the keyboard has always been in QWERTY for everyone. This was quite annoying if you don't know have a qwerty keyboard, you don't know how to "translate" the keys.
Now, the behaviour has changed, the keyboard is correctly set depending on the type of keyboard you have. This is good, except that there is an issue with AZERTY keyboards: the number keys are no longer working.
I can't switch weapons, I can't select anything in menus (can't pick a team if I am using old vgui menus).
Anyway, it works fine in Source Engine games, so there must be a way to fix it.
