Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): Aug 10 2022, at 19:34:33
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch Linux w/ KDE Plasma Wayland 5.25.4
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Trying to re-authenticate with PayPal does not work, when clicking the yellow PayPal button one of two things will happen:

  1. A black overlay on the page content will appear saying it will redirect to PayPal, and there is a link that says "Click Here to Continue". Usually at this point, a small dialog box will appear where I can enter my PayPal credentials and proceed, but his has not been the case for a few months.
  2. The Steam Client will freeze and eventually crash after some time.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Add a game to cart and attempt to purchase with PayPal when Steam says you must re-authenticate with PayPal
  2. Click the yellow PayPal button to re-authenticate
  3. Either nothing with happen or Steam will freeze

This has been a problem for a few months and is even a problem on my Steam Deck (in Game Mode and Desktop Mode), meaning I cannot buy products on Steam with PayPal outside of my web browser.

I should've closed this a while ago. There was a Steam client update that addressed this about a month ago I think.

Nothing extracted yet.
