It happens when closing Steam using either the package from the Arch repository or the Flatpak from Flathub.
Where the segfault happens can vary but it is mostly in libc.so.
This isn't new to the latest version of Steam for me. It has been happening occasionally for months.

This issue seems to also happen if you launch anything, and then try to exit steam after you quit the game/tool.
Played Cruelty Squad for a moment under Proton 7.0 to test 4K rendering, quit. Go to close Steam to shut down my PC and this immediately happened:

So, not only does Steam have a penchant for segfaulting when using it normally without -no-browser it will still segfault when exiting if Steam ever updates any product in the library, or after launching any product in the library, even if running it under -no-browser to prevent CEF from being used anywhere whatsoever.
Got this one today when closing Steam:
steam[12981]: segfault at ffffffff ip 00000000ffffffff sp 00000000ff8e8c4c error 14
Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at RIP 0xffffffd5.
And here is another one, this time on Fedora 37:

Looks like at least for the Steam Flatpak the segfault in libgobject-2.0.so seems to happen every time now when I close Steam.
So I also created an issue over there since that one might be unique to the Steam Flatpak (https://github.com/flathub/com.valvesoftware.Steam/issues/1011).
There is also now a SEGFAULT with "gldriverquery" from Steam on Fedora 37 frequently:
gldriverquery[12755]: segfault at 20 ip 00007f9247bbf440 sp 00007ffed869fa40 error 4 in libLLVM-15.so[7f924783e000+33d2000]

The SEGFAULT in libc.so is still happening with the latest Steam version (normal package and Flatpak):

The SEGFAULT mentioned in https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/8922#issuecomment-1330278927 seems to have been specific to the Flatpak and is not happening anymore since that update.
Your system information
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
When updating anything in Steam, be it a game or a tool, the following immediately happens when Steam is closed:
This appears to be related to my previous issue of Steam crashing on exit unless I run with
-no-browserbut it may be completely unrelated however. This crash is always reproducible on my system.
