Steam has recently introduced (as far as i know never seen it before) unread chat messages im guessing from someone chatting after ive logged out?

If you get the notification and click on it, nothing happens for me.

The next client will have a chat window visibility fix that may help here.

Same here.

Did today's update help with this?

LLiamDawe 2013-01-31 github

Won't be able to test until someone messages me while offline heh.

Still nothing, it gets rid of the notification but nothing happens.

Steam updated today, said i had 2 unread messages again, clicked and nothing happens. Still unresolved.

If you go to steamcommunity.com/chat you can clear the alert from there.

@Dovich99 that's great but the point of this report is to get the link to actually work right

This happened to me, but they were messages from a blocked user. Could this be the issue?

Ggdrewb-valve maintainer 2013-03-07 github

It's possible, but then I wouldn't think this would be Linux-specific. There are some Windows problem reports that are similar, so this might be handled by the main Steam team.

Bbonzairob 2013-03-07 github

Oh, whoops, sorry - i'm on mac and had this issue. I didn't realise this was a linux bug. So it's on a mac where they were messages from a blocked user, and clicking the notification did nothing.

Ggdrewb-valve maintainer 2013-03-07 github

OK, that confirms it's not a Linux issue and instead is a regular Steam client issue. It will need to be raised and pursued in the regular Steam support forums instead of this Linux-oriented GitHub.

Update: This seems to work now with the standard client, but in BPM.

This happened because someone sent you a message, and then deleted you out of your friendlist.

Solving it is easy: Block the [unknown] person when you have the chat open, then relog steam. When steam is back open, click on the messages and Unblock the person, now you can read what he said.

Nothing extracted yet.
