Mcencora can you please paste here the contents of Steam->Help->System Information, scroll to the end there is a section with crash information that we need, specifically the crash ids.

I don't think there is a way to get that information without logging in and I cannot log in due to this bug.
If you look in /tmp/dumps you'll see your minidump files. One of the files in the directory should be a text log file there that lists the uploads and their crash IDs.
There is no text file in this directory. Only crash_20130128141943_1.dmp
Few minutes ago the steam got updated, and it does not crash anymore.
You've been updating your client regularly? I don't know why it wouldn't have written a log unless you had a client from quite a while ago, but it sounds like Scott's theory is correct and his fix has worked for you.
No, I have installed it first time on Saturday, and today it has updated automatically.
