Problem

Logging in to the Linux client logs out the Windows client and vice versa with the message

Your account '' is currently in use at another machine.
You'll need to shut down Steam on your other computer in order to log in here.

Suggestion

I argue that multiple simultaneous logins should be allowed because

  • it's not a significant effort to implement
  • users sometimes have more than one device with Steam
  • other popular services such as Skype allow this

I just wanted to update games and steam itself in one computer while playing on another.

Removing or making the restriction by "os" or by "current game being played" would be a great step forward.

  • remove it!: just let me login even if i already logged in somewhere else and let me do whatever i want, thanks :)
  • by "os": i'm on linux, let me login on mac or windows
  • by "current game being played": i'm playing hl2, let me login again but not play hl2 - or any game, if it is a problem at all...

Closing as this no longer applies since in-home streaming was added to the Steam client.

Nothing extracted yet.
