I'm using Kubuntu 12.10, with an onboard VIA AC 97 chip, running Pulse and ALSA.

After a round or two of TF2, my mic stops working completely for no apparent reason. It's not even recognized by the overlay or the in-game options (there's no input according to the bar)

In Steam settings my mic is properly configured (although I could not set it to the default: "Pulseaudio default" input since it doesn't appear once I've changed it for the first time) and works.

In alsamixer and pavucontrol the mic always works.

Any help?

EDIT:
I did some testing today and there's nothing relevant to sound in the console after the mic stops working. Nor can I copy paste the console output because when I managed to reproduce it, hitting shift+ctrl+C on the console crashed the game and different errors covered them.

How to reproduce: Play a match. Sometimes it happens on the first match, sometimes it does after many matches.

Please include information requested at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux#reporting-issues to help in debugging the issue.

When running the game from Konsole, do any errors appear (of course, after exiting the game and checking the output)?

Updated with the requested information.

Also, I'm not the only one with the issue: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/846940248687975649/
And nothing on that thread helped.

I will do extensive testing after patching the latest version, which according to the changelog, may have fixed this.
