After opting into the new Steam beta with the new UI, Steam crashes at launch with a segmentation fault:

crash_20230429105401_52.dmp[7090]: file ''/tmp/dumps/crash_20230429105401_52.dmp'', upload yes: ''CrashID=bp-72cc85d0-9109-496a-9303-182102230429''
/home/vash/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 798: 6773 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$STEAMROOT/$STEAMEXEPATH" "$@"

SteamVR is not installed on my Linux partition due to past poor experience with it in Linux.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Plug in Valve Index to USB & DP
  2. Start Steam client
  3. Observe crash

Steps for resolving issue:

  1. Unplug Valve Index from USB & DP
  2. Start Steam client
  3. Observe client works normally

Just tested with my VIve. Works as it should, at least on start-up, but connecting or disconnecting it with Steam already running doesn't seem to be working – the VR icon doesn't appear or disappear.

(I have not, as yet, tested actually launching a VR game with the new beta client.)

Nothing extracted yet.
