Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1687386907
  • Distribution: RHEL 9.2 Flatpak and Arch non-Flatpak
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes
  • GPU: Intel (RHEL), AMD (Arch)

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Since the latest Steam client update (6/21/23) and perhaps the prior update that introduced the new UI theming, when I connect to a server from the Steam servers dialog, I get a popup above the main Steam window indicating an error.

It does not appear to affect any functionality and it disappears when clicking the "Refresh" link. However, if I do not click "Refresh" quickly enough, that link disappears and I have to restart my client to get rid of the message.

This happens on the two machines I've tried it on, one running up-to-date RedHat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and the other running up-to-date Arch Linux.

The expectation here is that I join the server and no error is thrown, disfiguring my Steam client interface.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Run steam
  2. Install a game (L4D2 in my case)
  3. Add a server for said game in Steam server favorites
  4. Select server and click connect

If you need more information, I would be happy to provide it.
