Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Instead of steam launching as expected, the first window is created with the text "Updating steam" and "Verifying installation". The program then crashes instead of launching into the steam program as normal.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Update system to newest version
2. Attempt to launch steam (both .desktop and terminal produce same result)
