This sounds inputs might be going to wrong window for some reason.
Which version of Ubuntu do you have? Which desktop environment are you using?
I think I have a similar/exactly same problem and can confirm - this can also happen in native games. Sometimes clearing the in-game overlay data helps.

Hi there!
When i play Deep Rock Galactic on my new install of Ubuntu (this isn't the first time I have run this on Ubuntu, I just did a hardware change and decided to fresh install), steam repeatedly opens and closes itself while ingame, I notice that random tabs will pop up just before it closes (code activation tab, software update tab, seemingly random). The game still runs while this is happening, but it will cause me to focus the steam tab every time it does it. This is really odd and i'm not sure what kind of files I could send to help diagnose this.
As far as I am aware this has occured on Proton GE 8-6 and 8-3, Proton experimental and Proton 8.0-3
It does not always happen, and I have found zero consistency as to what causes this bug to occur. I have attempted to screen record, but the bug stopped occuring afterwards.
