In RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, when using DXVK, the intro films cannot be skipped, unless one alt-tabs out and then into game again. Pressing space does nothing. When using WineD3D, the intro films are able to be skipped without tabbing out and back in first (and if my memory serves me right this is the behaviour on Windows too).

Another related issue which I suspect might have the same cause is that you cannot place rides/attractions/whatever above/below ground by holding shift + moving your mouse up and down. It does not appear to care for that you're holding down shift until you tab out and back in. This issue is also not present with WineD3D.

Note: I did not test this with latest master as I was unable to get it to build properly.

Software information

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum! from Steam. If it is helpful I can try to reproduce this with my physical copy of the game in plain Wine + DXVK.

System information

  • GPU: GTX 970
  • Driver: nvidia 440.59
  • Wine version: 5.0-3 (Proton)

I could not figure out how to acquire one of these unfortunately.

There's a slightly more practical approach to skipping intro sequences in this game than relying on alt+tab behaviour. I don't know if we can emulate this accurately without breaking other things.

@Newbytee Can you confirm that this now works fine with Proton 10?
I have also tested Windows and regular Wine with both KDE Plasma Wayland and X11

Just tested on GNOME Wayland and it works fine now with the latest Proton Experimental. Thanks for the update!
