I can confirm the issue, dxvk does a miracle on fixing the infamous GTAIV port even on Windows, and this is the only issue encountered.

I can reproduce the issue but after trying all sorts of things, I have no idea what's going on.
I'm also having the resolution issue like the other recent GTA post. Not sure if they're somehow linked as tabbing out changes resolution/states
The issue doesn't happen on Linux and Windows is not a supported platform because issues like that aren't exactly rare and are usually out of our control.
I also get the same problem when running the game with WineD3D on Windows.
I could be wrong but maybe #1753 can fix this?
If there is a chance, I'd be willing to try if you can sent a build
Tried that, doesnt fix it.
Downgrading to 1.0.7.0 seems to work, but minimizing the game won't show the desktop, but the last frame of the game instead. (only with dxvk)

1.7.3: tabbing out doesn't work
1.8.0: tabbing out does work but crash when coming back to the game
1.8.1: tabbing out does work and doesn't seem to crash at all even when loading a mission
@TheNachoman180 if you are still using the Complete Edition version feel free to try, works perfectly for me now :)
Edit: cutscenes are still crashing, just like CE, loaded a quick mission instead of an actual cutscene when testing earlier

never stop loading, but crash/close if you spam-click. (and right before it closes you can see the last frame of the game from when you came back from tabbing out)
Same here, I have to play without alt+tabbing. Happens even with a new game. If I open GTA4 and alt+tab while in main game/DLCs selection menu, when commanded to start a fresh game it gets stuck on "Starting new game" forever.
G'day, trying to play GTA IV TLAD DLC in the Complete Edition with DXVK as the FPS is much much better, but i've noticed I can play the game fine for as long as I want but if I tab out of the game then return (in both windowed and fullscreen) and then enter a mission or reach a stage in a mission where the loading screen comes up (text in bottom right corner) it will load 'forever' until I tab out of the game and end the unresponsive process. You need to go to the gtaiv.exe file and then right click on it -> properties -> compatibility tab -> uncheck the box for run this program in certain windows compatibility mode. In short, do not apply any compatibility setting. uncheck everything on that page. And, most importantly!!!! Use the Windows key instead of Alt Tab to minimize GTA IV. Windows key lets you go back to the game and continue.
