What do you mean by
but then it doesn't say Vulcan is being used. Just the nvidia driver number ?
Post the dxvk logs that appear next to the game. For 2.5.3 not async
Edit: You only have to use the 32bit d3d9.dll
I followed this video and he said to use both d3d9 and dxgi.

It was really confusing to me when I also read in one of his comments that I should use the async version and not the other dxvk lol. That might have been me misunderstanding though, in case the async is preferred for a specific situation.
He said you need to make sure it says vulcan when you start the game, so I took it for granted that was a normal part of this dxvk thing. Which is why I didn't think I had to explain it to someone here who I know knows more than me :)
The github page refers to it as well: Verify that your application uses DXVK instead of wined3d by enabling the HUD. The DXVK_HUD environment variable controls a HUD which can display the framerate and some stat counters. It accepts a comma-separated list of the following options:
However it doesn't say where I am supposed to find the environment thing that I had never heard about lol....
It also doesn't mention that I had to click new to create some new kind of rule or what to type in the DXVK_HUD thing. I did eventually realize that it had to be in the environment thing but that isn't a self-explanatory thing for someone who is new to this. Especially seeing how it mentions: prefix, wine and symlink. I was wondering if I had to download some other program and then type it in there lol. that's what happens when things aren't explained properly.
So if you're telling me that ALL I really/actually need to do, is download 2.5.3, replace ONE FILE and then start the game..
Why isn't that easy explanation on the github page ? Instead of the complex developer talk/way ?
So okay..
I will from now on use 2.5.3 but I still have to add DXVK_ HUD 1/full to see if I am actually running vulcan I guess ?
Also was there already another dxgi.dll file that I replaced when I first started switching the dll files from the dxvk and if so what do I do about it ?

Isn't it fascinating how communication works 🤪😄
We don't support dxvk-async here, and as it works on 2.5.3, there is nothing to do here.

Because this is a project made for Linux users and Windows isn't officially a target. The guide is how to use it with Wine on Linux.

A log file will also be generated next to the games exe, or sometimes in the top folder where it is installed.
The game doesn't ship a dxgi file so don't know where that is from. But again this game won't need it.
Edit: For Windows users MSI Afterburner with the RTSS overlay is also a option to check if it is working.

Well that makes sense. Thank you

Thanks again.
I discovered CapFrameX today and it seems to be easier to use than Afterburner, so I was thinking of using that.
Until now I haven't been sure if I have set everything up correctly, so I've been hesitant to declare that I am having fps issues and that the dxvk hasn't fixed it because I don't know if that's true. I have had multiple incidents just the last day where everything has been going pretty much flawless and then a fucking nuclear fps drop hit and it suddenly is locked in this 40+ fps state out of nowhere. Reminds me of the memory issue in BL1 GOTY. This has happened with the Ultra HD Texture Pack DLC on/off and with/without both 2.5.3 / dxvk async. So in other words on the vanilla version on steam.
Now that I am more informed about what I should do, I will try again to see if it is still happening.
Seeing how this is about Linux and not Windows, can I be sure that the game is in fact using DXVK when I replace that 1 file and do nothing else ? If I am still having the fps issue, I will open a new issue about this. Seeing how the mouse isn't a problem when I'm not supposed to use dxvk async anyway.
Hi
The mouse is invisible with the dll files from dxvk-async-2.0
The mouse is invisible regardless of the the environmental addition
The mouse is visible if I delete the dll files
