Can you record a video (with Nvidia Shadowplay for example) that shows a frame rate graph (either DXVK HUD or Rivatuner) for both DXVK 2.4 and 2.6.1?
@DorDur215 Friendly ping
@DorDur215 Double friendly ping
while it is true newer dxvk version gives lower fps than previous ones, the choppy and the stutter thing dont exist in my system.
bottom line: unable to reproduce. (note that newer nvidia driver caused lot of issues, either rollback or keep updating)
If the performance hit is tangible I guess like a bug could still be of use.
@zmn28hgbn59kcmlpio8unfh7fdre523esd28q9a How is the performance on current master? https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/actions/runs/18954007483
Come to Linux. I've played this game for over a thousand hours on Windows 10 and have been playing it on Linux since 2023. I can tell you that it's a much better experience.
Aside from that, here's some tips I remember from my days back in Windows 10.
Enable GPU hardware scheduling in Windows settings and give BlackOps and BlackOpsMP.exe high priority.
Disable "Fullscreen optimizations" to run it as exclusive fullscreen and not borderless windowed.
Disable shadows in the game settings. That's the one of the main settings that makes the game feel "unsmooth".
Uncap the FPS with com_maxfps 0 and limit it externally.
Disable in-game VSYNC.
Install NVIDIA Profile Inspector and enable both GSYNC and VSYNC, and then limit the FPS below your monitor refresh rate to be in VRR range.
DXVK should actually make everything better for this game, not worse. I doubt there is a performance regression with DXVK since v2.7.1 (and all before) work perfectly on Linux. But maybe Windows version is much different.
Install Bleachbit and clear cache, shaders etc after installing a new DXVK version. Maybe there is a conflict.
Nothing extracted yet.
Unfortunately black ops seems to be a very stuttery game on my pc (shader stutters?) so I installed DXVK 2.4.1 like half a year ago and it fixed every problem I had but when playing the game with any of the DXVK versions since 2.5 the game looks and feels kinda "choppy" or "unsmooth" as I would call it.
The framerate overall seems to be a bit worse going from 2.4.1 to 2.5 and later but there are no big drops or freezes according to the steam fps overlay but it just doesn't feel right.
Going back to DXVK 2.4.1 fixes it and everything feels buttery smooth again after the initial shader compilation stutters.
