I have noticed a performance/frame pacing issue in Arcania on Linux. The frame rate is great, so are the frame times, but the game still seems very choppy, much more so than using wined3d, despite much better and smoother frame times. Looking frame-by frame in a recording, I noticed the game with DXVK seemingly not properly tracking inputs. Despite moving my mouse smoothly, the distance my viewport moves per frame seems to fluctuate significantly.

I worked around the issue by capping the frame rate using DXVK_FRAME_RATE, still opening this issue in case it is something worth a look.

Software information

Arcania – Gothic 4, afaict this happens regardless of settings, but worse with more demanding ones.

System information

  • GPU: Radeon RX 460
  • Driver: Mesa 25.0~git2505010600.5db4fa~oibaf~o
  • Wine version: GE-Proton9-27
  • DXVK version:

Videos

At least for me, playback in browser for those videos is broken/laggy, I'd suggest downloading and playing them in mpv.

Issues like these aren't really all that actionable, frame pacing depends on a lot of different things including your compositor/desktop environment, driver, whether or not multiple GPUs are involved, monitor configuration, variable refresh rate being supported or not, the actual frame rate you're running vs your monitor's refresh, whether you have vsync on or off, how sensitive you are to it personaly, and 99.999% of the time we can't reproduce it anyway.

Ok, closing. If someone should be interested in this:
One GPU, no variable refresh rate, monitor refresh rate 75hz, ~60fps, no vsync, x11.
