I am getting this same crash behavior as TGP482, but on a RTX 2070 Super on Driver 561.09. No log files are created. I believe the Steam Deck couldn't start the game either with DXVK when others have tested.
Remember to use both d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll.
I did a quick test of the game with Proton Linux and it seems to start fine. This is on a Intel B580

Okay, that seems to have fixed it on my end. I haven’t used DXVK with DX8 games before, so I didn’t realize you needed the D3D9.dll file. I'll be interested in comparing dgVoodoo and DXVK’s shadow buffers to see if they're roughly equivalent.
Whenever you try to launch these games with DXVK nothing happens
