Hi there. I Would make sure that the 32-bit Nvidia Vulkan driver is installed
Sorry for not replying sooner, I have been very busy. I will check later today to see if the 32-bit driver is set up. I am using the NVIDIA open kernel modules via DKMS if that helps.
I legitimately forgot about this issue. So, my system only really works with the open kernel modules from NVIDIA... which are not offered in a 32-bit binary. I presume they probably won't be given a 32-bit binary either, since most people aren't running 32-bit systems with new NVIDIA cards.
I will close this issue then. Sucks but I don't think I have another option :(
The kernel module package does not need a 32-bit version to install, only the user space drivers do. They are usually separate packages to install. Their names depend on the distro you use.
I use Fedora, like I mentioned in the original report. I use Wayland also, but the point is that I get my NVIDIA drivers from an official NVIDIA repo (RPMFusion drivers are broken for me) which is not offered in a 32-bit form. Therefore, I am keeping this issue closed, since this is an issue on my end with no recourse.
Nothing extracted yet.
Summary
When launched through Steam, Portal 2 fails to start. Looking into the log, I find it's trying to use my Intel integrated graphics and not my main NVIDIA card. In fact, DXVK doesn't seem to detect it. DXVK then fails to recreate the swapchain (on Intel), citing
VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED. I suspect that if it were to find the NVIDIA card, it would work, as from experience working with Vulkan, Intel integrated graphics don't always play nicely with it.Software information
Portal 2, default settings.
-vulkanlaunch option setSystem information
Apitrace file(s)
I don't think it's applicable since the game doesn't even start
Log files
No Proton or Wine logs since running natively.
Here's the DXVK log, but please note that this only describes part of the issue as noted above: portal2_linux_d3d9.log
