I've been trying to play a sourcemod for half life 2 that requires the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. The mod in question is only for windows, so I must run it under proton. After trying and failing to get it running, I then went to see if I could even run Half Life 2 itself (under proton), and I seem to be experiencing the same issue and it was. Then, as another sanity check, I tried to launch Five Nights at Freddy's (another DX9 game) and, it too, seems to be having the same issue.
Other games work as far as I can tell, so this seems to only be affecting Direct X 9 games.
Both the mod and Half Life 2 run under WineD3D, but the performance is not optimal and some shaders seem to be broken (in the mod at least).
I have PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND set to 1 in the logs that I sent, but this doesn't seem to have any impact on the game's ability to launch.
Software information
Half Life 2 / Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer / Portal / FNaF
System information
(I do not have all of these installed/enabled at once, these are just the things I've tried.)
